Hi! I'm an Assistant Professor at  the  Jack J. Valenti's School of Communication, University of Houston.

I received my Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California (USC). At USC, I was a research member of the Annenberg Network Networks and the Metamorphosis Project.

My research interests lie at the intersection of interorganizational communication, immigrant and multiethnic community building, social network theory and methodology. My dissertation uses an ecological framework to study the alliance building and communication practices among immigrant-serving NGOs in California. Along this line, some of my current research examines how new media and technologies (e.g., hyperlinks, social media) are utilized by public, nonprofit, and private organizations in their day-to-day alliance communication, as well as during emerging crisis and disaster events.

Prior to my doctoral study at USC, I graduated with a M.A. in Communication from the University of Washington, Seattle, and B.A. with distinctions in Journalism and Mass Communication from Peking University, China. My professional experience includes working as a media analyst at the Consumer Media Division at Thomson Reuter, Beijing.
